Job Summary

Responsibilities

  • Follows guidance and direction from Press Operator.
  • Understands ISO and complies with written procedures.
  • Follows daily schedule for workload and communicates problems or concerns, assisting in resolutions in a timely manner.
  • Checks cutting slip to verify count of stock is accurate prior to running, communicates discrepancies to supervisor.
  • Ensures make-ready times and materials used are minimized through proper planning of work.
  • Maintains knowledge of safety requirements of the job and equipment; becomes familiar with Material Safety Data Sheets regarding chemicals in use.
  • Wears appropriate safety protection when using or mixing chemicals and ensures proper handling and disposal of hazardous chemicals.
  • Maintains a high level of print quality to eliminate inspection delays and redo's.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on press such as lubrication, replacement of small parts, cleaning and minor adjustments.
  • Assists in other departments as needed and when workload permits.
  • Keeps work areas clear and organized; maintains housekeeping standards.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of experience in a manufacturing environment, printing and packaging industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Minimum 6 months experience in a sheet feeder, press helper, or similar role supporting press operations in printing, packaging, or related high-speed production settings strongly preferred.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to read and interpret ruler, scales and other measurement devices.
  • Must ensure proper stock is used for each job.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand at a workstation for duration of shift. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without mechanical assistance.
