Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and dependable Press Operator Apprentice to join our manufacturing team. This apprenticeship provides hands-on training under the guidance of experienced press operators to develop the skills needed to safely set up, operate, monitor, and maintain production presses.
Essential Responsibilities
- Learn to safely operate and monitor production press equipment.
- Assist with machine setup, tooling changes, and production changeovers.
- Inspect parts to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
- Read and interpret work orders, production schedules, and basic blueprints.
- Perform routine machine cleaning, lubrication, and preventive maintenance.
- Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and report major problems to supervisors.
- Maintain accurate production and quality records.
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, maintenance personnel, and team members.
- Participate in classroom and on-the-job apprenticeship training as required.
- Continuously develop technical skills and knowledge of manufacturing processes.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Must have mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn manufacturing equipment.
- Ability to read basic measurements using rulers, calipers, or gauges (or willingness to learn).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable attendance and positive work ethic.
- Previous manufacturing experience is helpful but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach throughout the workday.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, moving machinery, and varying temperatures.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Work Schedule
Full-time. Overtime and shift work may be required based on production needs.
