Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Kaufman (THK) has served the communities of Kaufman, Crandall, Forney, Gun Barrel City, Mabank, Terrell, and nearby areas since 1975. As an 81-bed, full-service hospital, we provide acute care to patients throughout Kaufman County and surrounding regions. Services include orthopedic and general surgery, diagnostic imaging, outpatient physical therapy, respiratory care, nuclear medicine, and emergency services. THK is Joint Commission-certified and recognized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a Pathway to Excellence hospital, reflecting our commitment to a positive, empowering work environment and high-quality patient care.

About the Role

The President & Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) at THK will plan, direct, and coordinate the activities and functions of the hospital’s facilities through administrative offices and the medical staff.

Responsibilities

  • Operations Development and Implementation: Execute the operating direction and vision for the hospital in support of strategic and operating plans. Collaborate with THR channel and system leadership to implement operational plans achieving hospital, channel, and system objectives. Serve as hospital executive co-chair of the Leadership Council with the physician chief-of-staff.
  • Strategic Planning: Participate in establishing strategic zone priorities, goals, and objectives. Partner with channel leaders to develop, implement, and manage clinical, service, and operational plans addressing continuum and integration opportunities. Serve on THR councils and committees to enhance intra-channel cooperation and advance system initiatives.
  • Market/Environmental Analysis: Work with channel leaders, medical staff, and THR planning and business development leaders to identify opportunities and environmental/market trends. Maintain flexibility to proactively respond to shifting trends.
  • Budget: Oversee quality care and services through cost-effective management of hospital operations. Assume accountability for developing and evaluating operating and non-threshold capital budgets.
  • Relationships: Maintain ongoing relationships with the organized medical staff (in concert with the Allocated CMO) and nursing staff. Develop processes supporting data and information dissemination to leadership and staff. Network with peers at state, regional, and national levels. Foster collaborative relationships with physicians, department/hospital staff, and the management team. Establish, promote, and participate in community health activities.
  • Human Resources: Evaluate staffing and qualification requirements for reporting departments with channel and system leadership. Oversee effective recruitment and retention programs. Promote diversity in recruiting and leadership promotions. Participate in reward and recognition of individual and team accomplishments. Establish the philosophy of nursing and promote its professional image.
  • Quality Improvements and KPIs: Promote clinical integration, improvement, and alignment to advance patient outcomes while monitoring quality and maintaining regulatory readiness. Instill a culture of safety and commitment to clinical quality targets. Collaborate in a matrixed environment to achieve nursing and quality initiatives. Ensure achievement of hospital goals in satisfaction (patient, physician, employee), patient safety, clinical and non-clinical quality, and operational performance. Oversee processes for measuring, assessing, and improving patient outcomes and safety. Direct activities supporting compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Promote professional growth, development, accountability, and shared decision-making with an emphasis on interdepartmental teamwork.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Health Administration or other health-related field (required).
  • 5 years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare operations (required).
  • 3 years of management experience in a senior leadership role (required).
  • RN - Registered Nurse with a TX RN license (required upon hire).
  • FACHE - Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (Diplomat or Fellow preferred upon hire).
