Position Summary

The President & CEO serves as the chief executive officer of the Petroleum Association of Wyoming and is responsible for carrying out the mission and strategic direction established by the Association’s 36-member Board of Directors.

Government Affairs & Advocacy

  • Serve as PAW’s chief advocate before the Wyoming Legislature and U.S. Congress
  • Act as primary liaison to Wyoming’s Congressional delegation
  • Develop relationships with elected officials and regulatory agencies
  • Develop and execute legislative and regulatory strategies
  • Prepare testimony, policy papers, and advocacy materials
  • Maintain oversight of legislation, rulemaking, and emerging issues
  • Cook staff engagement on advocacy initiatives
  • Build coalitions and educate policymakers

Public Relations & Member Engagement

  • Maintain communication with members
  • Support committee activities
  • Recruit new members
  • Serve as media spokesperson
  • Deliver industry presentations
  • Maintain relationships with regional and national organizations

Executive Leadership & Operations

  • Work closely with the Management Committee and Board
  • Develop and manage the annual budget
  • Oversee financial reporting
  • Supervise staff and operations
  • Manage assets and outside professional services

Affiliated Organizations

  • Wyoming Petroleum Foundation: Ex officio board member; lead fundraising and oversee resources.
  • Rockies Petroleum Leadership Council: Voting board member; co-manage Rockies Petroleum Conference.
  • Wyoming Carbon Innovation Network: Staff liaison; coordinate meetings, programming, and member engagement.

Qualifications

  • Government relations, lobbying, or public affairs experience
  • Leadership and coalition-building
  • Staff management
  • Oil and natural gas industry knowledge preferred
