Preservation Mechanic Intermediate
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate mechanical and pipefitting skills and increasing proficiency in accurately and efficiently inspecting engines, coolers, compressor clearances and wear and electrical testing.
- Use electronics (panel), hydraulic, tubing skills to preserve engines, compressors, coolers and process systems and shrink wrap engine and lube boxes with only general supervision.
- Perform NORM testing on all units arriving from field locations and document results.
- Aid in the documentation of hazardous materials and fluids that arrive from the field.
Qualifications
- Skills and Abilities: Ability to work effectively under time-sensitive deadlines, provide status reports and ensure that documents and work flow are complete and accurate. Operate a forklift as needed to move materials and/or equipment. Comply with all applicable safety and environmental policies and procedures. Read, write, speak and understand English and/or fully understand daily work instructions (operating and safety procedures). Basic math and computer skills with ability to use Excel, Word and Oracle.
- Knowledge: High level of knowledge in preservation procedure relative to gas compressor equipment preservation and inspection. Knowledge of relevant HSE procedures and regulations. Knowledge of basic hand and mechanic tools. General mechanical knowledge. Basic computer skills (Excel, word and email).
- Minimum Education And Certification: High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver license. Must provide own hand tools up to 1 1/4".
- Minimum Experience: Typically at least 1 year experience in engine, compressor mechanics, production equipment and gas compression.
Physical Demands
- Frequently required to display good manual dexterity and to reach with hands and arms.
- Constantly required to talk and hear.
- Frequently required to sit while driving or using a PC.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, and twist with good balance.
- Occasionally required to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds and to push and pull up to 110 pounds.
- Occasionally required to carry at least 40 pounds with one hand for at least 10 feet.
- Occasionally required to crawl, climb in and around equipment, stairs and vertical ladders.
- Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

- Most assignments regularly require some problem identification and resolution. Implements solutions to non-recurring problems by analyzing, interpreting and evaluating various precedents and data. Anticipates and proactively solves moderately complex problems using internal and external resource. Routinely identifies opportunities and provides ideas, methods and innovations to enhance teamwork, efficiency and quality.
