About the role
California Weekly Explorer is known for its "Walk Through Presentations," which engage students in active participation of their grade level history curriculum. As an Educational Performer, you will guide students through time, host a friendly competition, and make learning fun!
Job Responsibilities
- Complete intensive training including memorizing and dynamically presenting three scripts in an engaging manner.
- Present two presentations a day, each lasting 2 1/2 hours.
- Interact with students in classrooms up to 36 in a presentation.
- Transport and set up/tear down display equipment each day.
- Travel to different schools within a large calendar area, taking 3-5 weekly trips outside your calendar area.
- Manage all travel arrangements and preparations.
- Fill out monthly expense reports and evaluations of schools.
Requirements
- Positive and fun personality, adaptable to various situations.
- Can-do attitude, problem-solving skills, and strong social, communication, and organizational abilities.
- Experience in teaching or performance, classroom management, and improvisation.
- Willing and able to work a 5-day a week set calendar with a high work ethic.
- Able to manage difficult students in an encouraging way.
- Reliable standard size car to hold all equipment, valid driver’s license, and pass a DOJ background check.
Perks
- Salary position, $4,000/month (after completion of training) through June 15.
- Paid training rate of $140/day for initial 10-12 day training period.
- Full-time/seasonal, October through mid-June; summer's off (not paid).
- Mileage reimbursed at IRS standard.
