About the role

Under general supervision of the Site Supervisor, teaches an assigned group of 3–5-year-old children using developmentally appropriate practices and by creating an environment in which children can experiment, make choices, solve problems, and share experiences with others. Participates in and attends parent-education and parent-involvement activities. In the absence of the Site Supervisor, fulfills the role of the Site Supervisor as defined by Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations.

• Create an environment that encourages experimentation, problem-solving, and social sharing
• Participate in and attend parent-education and parent-involvement activities
• Act as Site Supervisor in their absence, per Title 22 regulations

Requirements

• Associate degree in early childhood education from an accredited college/university OR an Associate degree in any other field with coursework equivalent to a major in early childhood education
• Valid California Commission on Teacher Credentialing Child Development Teacher Permit or higher
• Completed coursework (grade C or better) in at least one of the following core areas:
  • Child/human growth and development
  • Child, family, and community or child and family relations
  • Early childhood education curriculum
• At least 175 days of teaching experience with preschool-aged children in a group setting, including at least 50 hours of instructional experience in a child-care or development program (minimum 3 hours per day within a six-month period in the last two years)

Licenses and certifications

• Valid California Driver’s License and access to an automobile with state-minimum insurance coverage
• Proof of completion of 16 hours of training in preventative health practices, including pediatric CPR and pediatric first aid (Title 22 compliant)

Desirable qualifications

• Experience developing parent or volunteer training programs
• Experience evaluating work methods or results
• Bilingual (English/Spanish)

All foreign transcripts must be evaluated by a CTC-approved agency to determine U.S. equivalency; the evaluation must be attached to the application.

This position is grant-funded.

Pay

Daily pay range: $213.91 – $273.03

Schedule

Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8 hours per day, 210 days per year.
