About the role
Acelero Learning is seeking a socially conscious, dedicated Preschool Teacher with a P-3 certification to provide instructional, assessment, and positive behavioral support in a Head Start classroom for up to fifteen 3–5-year-old children. This role involves collaboration with an assistant teacher, families, and staff to ensure positive outcomes for children of all abilities, guided by our Teacher Success Rubric.
Responsibilities
- Implement a child-centered curriculum and learning environment that promotes positive social interaction, active engagement, and self-motivation across all developmental domains for children of all abilities.
- Address challenging behaviors by identifying causes, implementing preventive measures, teaching new social and communication skills, and partnering with families.
- Use observations and anecdotal notes to document children’s progress and individualize curriculum.
- Build partnerships with families to establish positive interaction patterns at program, school, and home.
- Provide developmentally, linguistically, culturally, and age-appropriate classroom experiences.
- Create a print-rich environment to develop literacy, numeracy, and social skills using increasingly complex language and problem-solving.
- Develop and implement daily lesson plans based on children’s needs, interests, observations, and early childhood development principles.
- Integrate Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for children with disabilities.
- Maintain a consistent classroom routine and ensure the safety and security of children at all times, adhering to Head Start and daycare licensing requirements.
- Supervise and eat meals with children to model good nutrition and social skills.
- Oversee all classroom field trips and outdoor activities.
- Assess children on an ongoing basis, organize anecdotal notes into key domains, and document progress using Creative Curriculum.
- Analyze child outcomes twice yearly, consult with the education coordinator, and adjust curriculum planning as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and a New Jersey P-3 Teacher Certification.
- Physical exam and background checks required.
- Travel locally or long-distance up to 10% of the time for work-related meetings and functions.
- Valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation.
Pay
This is a 10-month position with an annual salary range of $59,127 to $73,575, based on education and experience.
