About the role

Teaches an assigned group of students using developmentally appropriate practices and creates an environment where 3-5 year old children can experiment, make choices, solve problems, and share their experiences with others. Participates in and attends parent education and parent involvement activities. In the absence of the Site Supervisor, fulfills the role of the Site Supervisor as defined by Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Teach developmentally appropriate lessons to preschool-aged children
  • Create a safe and engaging learning environment
  • Attend and participate in parent education and involvement activities
  • In the absence of the Site Supervisor, assume supervisory responsibilities

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Possession of an Associate degree in early childhood education from an accredited college/university OR Associate degree in any other field with coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education
  • Valid California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, Child Development Teacher Permit or higher
  • Completed coursework in at least one of the following core areas: Child/Human growth and development, Child Family and community or Child and Family Relations, ECE curriculum course
  • At least 175 days of teaching experience with preschool aged children in a group setting (at least 50 hours of experience must be in an instructional capacity)
  • Possession of a valid California Driver's License and availability of an automobile with state minimum insurance coverage
  • Completion of 16 hours of training in preventative health practices, including pediatric CPR and pediatric first aid compliant with Title 22 regulations

Desirable Qualifications: Experience in developing parent or volunteer training programs, experience with evaluating work methods or results, bilingual (English/Spanish) applicants.
