About the role
You will serve as a team member in an assigned staff group and be responsible for planning and implementing programs for preschoolers. You will implement classroom programs in compliance with CCG standards, Head Start Performance Standards, NAEYC criteria, and local and state licensing standards.
Responsibilities
- Manages classroom environment; shares responsibility for setting up the room for daily activities and provides attractive, functional learning centers.
- Assists in planning, preparation, and implementation of developmentally appropriate activities for children based on RC3, including developing curriculum, completing child assessments, and maintaining records.
- Plans activities that support children in increasing developmental skills in all domains on the E-LAP by at least 15%.
- Manages time and becomes familiar with the routine of each classroom in which you may work.
- Develops strong relationships with children and their families.
- Serves as a team member in the assigned classroom.
- Participates in parent meetings, parent conferences, and conducts home visits per Performance Standards regulations.
- Acquires knowledge and proficiency in the Head Start Electronic Information System, ChildPlus, and/or Redelearner Database within the introductory period of employment.
- Assists in the inventory of and request for equipment and supplies.
- Participates in the entry process of children into the care group.
- Complies with all CCG policies and procedures, including EEO/Affirmative Action, ADA, Conduct, Conflict of Interest, Solicitation, and Safety.
- Assumes responsibility for the daily classroom program in the Lead Teacher’s absence.
- Works closely with other classroom teacher(s), administrative staff, children, parents, and families.
- Organizes a classroom environment for children with minimal hazards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Preschool Child Development Associate (CDA) or Associate's degree in child development or related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- One year of experience working with young children required.
- Desire to work with young children and general knowledge of “normal” growth and development.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Good organizational skills and written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff, parents, and center volunteers.
- Valid Texas driver’s license; driving record must comply with CCG’s automobile insurance carrier requirements.
- Liability insurance coverage and reliable personal transportation.
- Ability to travel locally or out of town as required; mileage reimbursement offered when applicable.
- Must submit to and successfully pass all required CCG and Partner Program background checks throughout employment (FBI, Fingerprinting, Neglect and Abuse, Federal, State, Local, and Sex Offender).
Physical Demands
- Work requires normal physical effort with minimal lifting requirements of items weighing 50 pounds or less.
- Visual attention and manual dexterity/coordination.
