Thompson was founded in 1886 as an orphanage and has since expanded to operate across the Carolinas, Florida, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Thompson’s continuum of care includes prevention, mental health services, and foster care, all of which are trauma-informed and evidence-based.
What will you do as a Preschool Teacher Assistant?
- Implement daily lesson plans and document the child's progress.
- Maintain the total quality of the classroom environment, focusing on cleanliness, order, state of repair, and the replenishment of supplies.
- Provide direct service and supervision to children, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Establish appropriate and helpful relationships with other staff, mentors, family members, and support service providers.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, conferences, workshops, and other career development and professional activities.
- Understand the cultural diversity of children and team members to better serve families.
- Perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, lifting, and moving items as required.

Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Have at least six SCH of post-high school coursework in Early Childhood Education
- Have 2 years of early childhood teaching experience
- Associate’s degree in early childhood education preferred
- Must have knowledge of regulations governed by DCDEE and Mecklenburg County Health Department standards
- All potential job candidates must pass a drug screening test, and an extensive background check is required.
