Preschool Teacher Aide

About the role

Join the Dundee Township Park District as a Preschool Teacher Aide and play an important role in supporting our preschool program. You’ll help create a nurturing, engaging, and organized classroom environment for children ages 3–5, working closely with the Preschool Teacher to encourage creativity, social skills, and early learning.

As a Preschool Teacher Aide, you’ll be part of a caring, passionate team dedicated to giving every child a positive first school experience. You’ll help set the stage for learning through hands-on activities, play-based education, and consistent routines in a safe and welcoming space.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in setting up and preparing the classroom each day.
• Prepare learning activities and materials before class begins.
• Welcome and help children settle in upon arrival.
• Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities.
• Support snack and lunch times, including cleanup.
• Model and encourage positive behavior, cooperation, and tidiness.
• Adapt activities to meet individual needs.
• Help maintain a clean and organized classroom by putting away supplies and materials.
• Participate in special events such as open houses, graduations, and field trips.
• Follow all safety and loss prevention policies.
• Serve as a positive representative of the Dundee Township Park District.

Requirements

• Experience working with children ages 3–5.
• A genuine passion for early childhood education.
• Ability to work calmly and effectively in a busy environment.
• Good physical condition and mobility to keep up with active children.
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification, or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.

Schedule

Part-time, approximately 9 months (Mid-August to Mid-May).

• Monday–Friday, between 7:45 am and 2:30 pm (hours vary by class assignment, ranging from 2¾ to 5½ hours per day).
• May be invited to work summer preschool if available.
