About the role

Plans and implements learning experiences that advance the development of the whole child. Establishes and maintains a safe, healthy learning environment using high-quality learning experiences in partnership with families. Complies with all Head Start Performance Standards, Colorado Department of Human Services licensing requirements, and the Colorado Quality Standards for Early Childhood Care and Education Services. Implements a balance of group and individualized experiences to promote the development of school readiness skills as defined by CPCD’s School Readiness Action Plan. Provides daily supervision for assigned classroom staff.

This position begins on September 14th and is scheduled for 40 hours a week.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with Head Start Performance Standards, Colorado Department of Human Services licensing requirements, and Colorado Quality Standards for Early Childhood Care and Education Services.
  • Implement a balance of group and individualized experiences to promote school readiness skills.
  • Provide daily supervision for assigned classroom staff.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or related field and Colorado Department of Human Services Director Qualified. If not currently Director Qualified, must agree to obtain this certificate immediately.
  • Experience teaching in early childhood education, including planning and implementing curriculum, using assessments, and providing effective and nurturing teacher-child interactions.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 40 pounds.
  • First Aid and infant, child, & adult CPR certification within the first year of employment (and maintain as required).
  • Medication Administration certification within 90 days of employment (and maintain as required).
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination, TB test, drug test (including marijuana), and background check.
  • Access to reliable transportation; if using a personal vehicle, must maintain minimum liability insurance as determined by the State of Colorado.

Qualifications (Preferred)

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or closely related field with 30 credits of early childhood education courses.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish or other language relevant to the community served).

Pay

  • Step 1: AA Degree/ECE or related field & Director Qualified (or written agreement to obtain) – $2,136.00 per pay period (bi-weekly).
  • Step 2: Bachelor’s Degree in ECE or related field & Director Qualified (or written agreement to obtain) – $2,372.00 per pay period (bi-weekly).
