Preschool Head Teacher, Alpha - $120,000/year USD

What You Will Be Doing

• Create engaging, sensory-driven learning experiences designed to intentionally advance early literacy, numeracy, self-regulation, and social skills.
• Build a classroom environment where each child feels emotionally secure, truly understood, and enthusiastic about attending school daily.
• Monitor children's development as it unfolds, record significant progress, and apply those observations to tailor instruction.
• Modify activities based on individual interests and developmental stages, ensuring every child achieves meaningful growth.
• Collaborate regularly with families to communicate progress, acknowledge achievements, and extend developmental support outside the classroom.

What You Won’t Be Doing

• Overseeing children without intentional developmental goals guiding each activity.
• Implementing scripted curricula, depending on worksheets, or prioritizing compliance over intellectual curiosity.
• Dedicated to behavior management instead of teaching children how to regulate their emotions.
• Placing children in front of digital learning programs while you observe passively.

Basic Requirements

• Available to work full-time, on-site in Manhattan, New York City (relocation support is provided).
• Hold an associate's degree or higher, or possess any U.S. state teaching license or certification.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience working with children ages 3-5 in a structured, play-based classroom or group environment.
• Experience tracking developmental milestones through a structured framework or assessment instrument (Teaching Strategies GOLD, ASQ, HighScope COR, etc.).
• Eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Nice-to-have Requirements

• Background in a Reggio Emilia, Montessori, Bank Street, or other inquiry-driven early childhood program.
• Experience working in an independent school or an academically rigorous preschool setting.
• Knowledge of child-development frameworks, observation instruments, or portfolio-based assessment methods.
• Experience modifying play-based activities to align with individual interests, needs, and developmental objectives.
