Preschool Certified Teacher Assistant - Bronx
About the Role
We are currently looking for a Preschool Certified Teacher Assistant to join our team at our Bronx Children's Program. This position includes a sign-on bonus.

Responsibilities
- Provides physical and programmatic aid to children assigned.
- Aids in program plans and preparations.
- Assists with supervision of children in assigned areas.
- Provides Teacher with information about children to assist in development of appropriate learning and behavioral experiences.
- Assists children with use of available instructional resources and helps Teacher develop instructional materials.
- Performs clerical work for assigned areas (e.g., collating, folding, typing, laminating, answering telephones).
- Participates in case conferences as needed.
- Ensures services are rendered with utmost regard for children’s personal dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.
- Provides necessary program support/coverage.
- Completes data collection and progress notes according to division time frames, ensuring accuracy.
- Follows established classroom activity schedules.
- Assists Special Education Teacher in maintaining a clean and organized classroom.
- Implements universal precautions at all times.
- Assists with toileting and feeding of children as needed.
- Helps children with outer clothing on arrival and departure.
- Participates in activities outside the classroom (e.g., trips, pool, gym) and enters the swimming pool to engage in pool activities with children as required.
- Attends required staff meetings.
- Participates in in-service training programs within the department.
- Assists with transporting children between buses and the building as requested.
- Initiates precautions to ensure work is completed safely.
- Substitutes in other classrooms as requested.
- Performs other related duties as requested.
Requirements
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with coworkers, children, and parents.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of children’s records.
- Ability to analyze problems and determine corrective measures.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Six months of related experience is preferred.
- Completion of workshops on Child Abuse Identification, Preventing Sleeping Infant Death Syndrome, and Abusive Head Trauma Training (required before start date).
- NYS Teacher Assistant Certification (Level I, II, or III) required.
Pay
$19.06 - $23.05/hour (based on certification level, after probation).
