About the role

The Y Preschool Assistant Teacher contributes to the Y's mission by assisting the classroom teacher in implementing activities and assignments that align with long-range learning objectives. They ensure the health, welfare, and safety of enrolled children and foster their social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the classroom teacher in implementing activities and assignments aligned with long-range learning objectives.
  • Ensure the health, welfare, and safety of enrolled children.
  • Foster the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development of each child in your care.

Requirements

  • Enthusiasm for young children.
  • Patience and good humor.
  • Good judgment and a good spirit.
  • The ability to clearly communicate and effectively listen to children, parents/guardians, members, and other Y associates.
  • Prior early childhood experience (preferred).
  • A high school degree or GED.
  • Your 90 hour child care certification.
