About the role

St. Alphonsus School is seeking a Full-Time Preschool & Extended Care Assistant to support our licensed preschool program for children ages 2.5 to 5 years old. This role is ideal for someone who loves working with young children, values early childhood education, and enjoys being part of a faith-based community.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred.
  • Experience working with young children in a school, daycare, or similar setting preferred.
  • Must pass background check and meet Archdiocese of Seattle Safe Environment requirements.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a First Aid/CPR certificate, TB test, food handler's permit, and DCYF MERIT account.

Essential Functions

  • Aid the lead preschool teacher in implementing age-appropriate activities that foster social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Supervise and engage with children during playtime, circle time, and other classroom activities.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment.
  • Support children with basic needs such as handwashing, snack time, and restroom assistance.
  • Encourage positive behavior and model respectful interactions.
  • Assist with classroom setup, transitions, and end-of-day cleanup.
  • Collaborate with the preschool teacher and school staff to ensure a nurturing and structured learning environment.
  • Adhere to school policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations.
  • Show a patient, warm, and supportive demeanor.
  • Show strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

Pay

The range for this position is $25-$30/hour. Compensation is determined based on internal equity, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.
