Preschool Aide

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate, reliable Preschool Classroom Aide to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student with communication needs. This role is essential in helping the student access the preschool curriculum, engage with peers, and build communication and social skills in a nurturing classroom environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized support to a preschool-aged student throughout the school day
• Assist the student in understanding and following classroom routines and activities
• Support the development of communication skills using strategies provided by the teaching team and specialists (e.g., visual supports, modeling, assistive communication tools)
• Facilitate positive peer interactions and social engagement
• Collaborate closely with the classroom teacher and service providers (e.g., speech therapists)
• Monitor and document student progress and behavior as required
• Assist with transitions, self-care tasks, and classroom participation
• Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all students

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in education, child development, or related field preferred
• Experience working with young children, preferably in a preschool or special education setting
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting children with diverse learning needs
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to follow direction and implement instructional strategies consistently

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the classroom for extended periods
• Ability to assist young children with transitions, communication, and daily activities
