Essential Duties & Responsibilities Assists Preschool Instructors with planning the preschool programAssist Preschool Instructors with instructing and supervising children during activities; provides appropriate discipline and guidance as neededEnsures safety practices and administers First Aid and performs CPR if necessaryAssists Preschool Instructors with all activities and responsibilities, including set-up and cleanupCommunicates on a daily basis with parents during pick-up and drop offPerforms other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered. Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age or older. Education: High School graduate or equivalent. Experience: At least six (6) months of youth aide or activity aide is preferred; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Licenses and/or Certifications: CPR and First Aid Certifications are required. Must meet Teacher Assistant qualification per the State of Colorado licensing requirements. Experience in child care and customer service preferred. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Ability to effectively convey information to studentsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and OutlookStrong organizational skillsAbility to physically withstand exposure to varying weather conditions, chemicals, warm temperatures and other conditions found in the pool areasKnowledge of and ability to physically perform and demonstrate various rescue techniques, life-saving procedures and water safety instructionAbility to exercise independent judgment to apply facts and advisory data to problem resolution. Advisory data includes Town of Castle Rock Personnel Guidelines, Parks and Recreation policies and procedures, Certified Pool Operators Manual, and lifeguarding manuals. Physical Demands Ability to perform CPR and first aidOccasional lifting, carrying, walking and standingOccasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stop, kneel, crouch or crawlFrequent hand/eye coordination to operate personal computer and office equipment, classroom equipment, and other teaching instrumentsVision for reading, interpreting, and presenting informationSpeech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees, citizens, and classroom participants Work Environment Works primarily in a clean, comfortable environment Equipment Used This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.
