PREPPER / PAINT ASSISTANT

About the role

The Prepper / Paint Assistant position is responsible for preparing vehicles for painting and assisting painters with their work. The Prepper reports to the Painter and Production Manager and is expected to provide his/her own hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Prepare vehicles and parts for painting, using proper techniques, equipment and materials, as outlined on the work order
• Mask vehicles for painting
• Prime vehicles and parts
• Sand vehicles and parts prior to painting
• Clean vehicles prior to sending to final masking
• Update WIP board throughout the day
• Aid in the smooth flow of work through the shop
• Maintain work area in clean and safe condition
• Keep Painter and Production Manager aware of work status
• Alert the Painter and/or Production Manager to any unusual problems or additional work needed on a vehicle
• Check all parts for accuracy before beginning prepping
• Absorb assistance from the Painter as necessary

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license
• 1+ years of experience
• Proper certifications or ability to obtain certifications
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic
