About the role

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join our kitchen team at Franklin Inn Mexican Restaurant. This is an opportunity to take ownership of the position and roll up your sleeves to help with all aspects of kitchen operations.

Responsibilities

  • Cooking: Prep and line cooking shifts primarily (mix of day/night work). Fill in when others are on vacation in the expo/take-out area.
  • Wednesdays (head cooks' day off) and weekends.
  • ServSafe Trained: Monitor sanitation practices and assist with equipment cleaning and maintenance.
  • Catering: Prep and package catering jobs. Learn to cost jobs eventually.
  • Help with updating/revising/new procedures for the kitchen, developing Mexican-inspired seasonal menus and weekly specials.
  • Research and grow in Mexican food preparation. Knowledge of Spanish a plus.
  • Explore options for a growing regular clientele of plant-based/vegan diners.
  • Knowledge of menu recipe costing and associated computer skills helpful for the future.

Requirements

  • Willingness to work Wednesdays and weekends.
  • ServSafe Trained.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive attitude and ability to lead and inspire co-workers.
  • Knowledge of menu recipe costing and computer skills (optional).

Qualifications

Experience in a similar role is preferred, but we will consider candidates with relevant experience in other culinary settings. A strong work ethic and a willingness to learn are essential.

  • Attention to detail and cleanliness.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic computer skills (optional).

Pay

Salary range TBD based on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

Public Kitchen hours are currently 4 pm to 9:30 pm weeknights and 4 pm to 10 pm on Friday and Saturday. We occasionally offer special events outside of these hours.
