About the role
The Prep Cook is responsible for all aspects of production for salads and sandwiches, including preparation and clean-up before, during, and after service. This position involves preparing sandwiches, salads, and desserts for students and faculty, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and supporting culinary staff as needed. The Prep Cook serves as the first impression for all guests and requires accuracy, speed, efficiency, and excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Prepare daily meals, including made-to-order deli and salad items, as well as catering orders when needed.
- Chop and slice meats, cheese, and vegetables; cook and assemble sandwiches, grab-and-go items, and other menu offerings.
- Prepare lunch and dinner stations according to company guidelines and stock stations with necessary items.
- Bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods.
- Carve, trim, and prepare meats and seafood for hot or cold service.
- Maintain cleanliness and presentation of the department to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Provide excellent customer service by being attentive, approachable, and greeting/thanking customers.
- Operate and sanitize all equipment safely and properly.
- Support culinary staff at various stations as directed.
- Adhere to and promote company standards for safety, food handling, sanitation, uniform guidelines, and productivity.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1–3 years of experience in a similar position.
- Must be dependable, neat, clean, professional, and possess excellent customer service skills (this is a front- and back-of-house position).

Pay
Hourly rate: $13.00 – $15.00 per hour, paid weekly via direct deposit.
