Prep Cook

Core Responsibilities

• Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and other meal prep.
• Undertake basic cooking duties, such as light frying and grilling.
• Prepare simple dishes, such as salads and entrees.
• Ensure that items are properly cut, labeled, dated & stored to maintain freshness and comply with regulations.
• Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by sanitizing surfaces and taking out trash.
• Perform other duties as assigned to assist the department in obtaining and maintaining its mission.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required, training from a culinary school is an asset.
• Must be able to pass ServSafe within a year of hiring.
• 1 year of experience as a prep cook.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

• Must be able to lift 10-20 lbs numerous times each day and up to 50 lbs several times each day.
• Must be able to lift items above waist level.
• Must be able to push and pull up to 150 lbs frequently.
• Frequent bending and reaching activities.
• Must be able to perform numerous manual tasks and use a variety of kitchen equipment in a safe manner.
• Requires long periods of standing.
