Prep Cook at Deacon's New South

Deacon's New South in Nashville, TN is hiring Prep Cooks to join our kitchen team. This is a great position to grow into the restaurant industry. We love to cross-train and promote from within. Responsibilities

• Cook and prepare a variety of food products including meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, sauces, stocks, breads, and other food products using a variety of equipment and utensils according to the Daily Prep List.
• Perform minor machine maintenance and set up ingredients in preparation for production.
• Assign the overall production of food when needed.
• Perform duties in the areas of food and final plate preparation including plating and garnishing of cooked items and preparing appropriate garnishes for all hot menu item plates.

Essential Qualifications

• Must pass the federally mandated E-verify process.
• Be 18 years of age or older.
• Have reliable transportation to and from work.
• At least 1 year of experience working in a professional restaurant kitchen.
• Must have an understanding of proper use and maintenance of major kitchen equipment.
• Able to communicate clearly and effectively with managers, kitchen and dining room personnel and guests.
• Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
• Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
• Able to conduct yourself in a positive and professional manner under all circumstances, including in a high paced environment.
• Baking experience required.

Pay Rate: $20–$22/hr
