The PreOp / PACU RN at Resurgens Surgical Center in Atlanta, Georgia is part of a fast-paced, high-quality environment focused on achieving the best outcomes for patients.
Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, organize, coordinate, and implement all nursing care services for post-surgical patients.
- Monitor heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, and respiration in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU).
- Manage pain and nausea following anesthesia.
- Admit, transfer, and discharge patients.
- Complete ongoing patient assessments and document according to policy.
- Develop and update patient plans of care, including addressing patient problems, goals, evaluations, and interventions.
- Report symptoms and significant changes in patient condition promptly.
- Coordinate discharge planning with other members of the care team.
- Care for patients from infancy to geriatrics, applying age-specific standards and techniques.
- Administer medications based on patient age and state of consciousness.
- Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and fellow employees.
- Show strong professional and ethical behavior.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all team members.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Current Georgia Nursing License.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in Pre-Op/PACU.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and patient management.
- Understanding of aseptic technique and its implementation.
- Ability to care for patients across various age groups.
- Knowledgeable in recognizing, evaluating, solving problems, and correcting errors.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing patient conditions.
- Strong teaching and customer service skills.
- Proactive in demonstrating accountability, creativity, innovation, and receptiveness to change.
- Broad understanding of Performance Improvement concepts.
