About the role

We are seeking an experienced Premium Senior Engineer to drive enterprise application modernization and cloud migration initiatives. This role is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining scalable software applications while leading the transformation of legacy systems into modern cloud-native architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with customers and stakeholders to understand business needs, pain points, and technical requirements, ensuring user-centric software solutions.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise software applications throughout the full software development lifecycle.
  • Create high-level software architecture designs, defining application structure, interfaces, integrations, and deployment strategies.
  • Develop and maintain scalable backend services, REST APIs, microservices, and cloud-native applications using Java technologies.
  • Build user-friendly and interactive applications while ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with product owners, architects, designers, engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions.
  • Define and implement software testing strategies, standards, policies, and best practices.
  • Support modern engineering practices including Test-Driven Development (TDD), Continuous Integration (CI), and Continuous Delivery (CD).
  • Implement security best practices including data encryption, anonymization, and secure application development methodologies.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, frameworks, and tools to continuously improve development efficiency and solution quality.
  • Lead cloud migration projects from planning through execution, ensuring successful delivery within scope, timeline, and budget.
  • Develop migration roadmaps, resource plans, risk mitigation strategies, and modernization recommendations.
  • Conduct application portfolio assessments and recommend cloud migration approaches such as rehost, replatform, refactor, or rearchitect.
  • Provide technical leadership for legacy application modernization, including transitioning monolithic and mainframe-based systems to cloud-native platforms.
  • Oversee integration of PLM systems with enterprise applications such as ERP, CRM, and manufacturing systems.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for stakeholders, providing regular project updates, status reports, and recommendations.
  • Troubleshoot migration-related issues and support technical teams in identifying and implementing solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, industry standards, security requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Conduct post-migration reviews, document lessons learned, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor team members and promote knowledge sharing across engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 15+ years of hands-on Java development experience.
  • Strong expertise with: Java (8/11/17+), Core Java, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, RESTful API Development, Microservices Architecture, Object-Oriented Design.
  • Experience with: Maven or Gradle, Jenkins, Git, JUnit, Mockito, CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proven ability to design, develop, and maintain enterprise Java services integrated with legacy systems.
  • Experience modernizing monolithic, on-premises, mainframe, or COBOL-based applications.
  • Hands-on experience migrating applications to cloud-native architectures using: Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Strong understanding of: Cloud-native development principles, Event-driven architecture, API-led integration, 12-Factor Applications, Legacy modernization strategies, Strangler-Fig migration patterns.
  • Experience assessing application portfolios and developing modernization roadmaps.

Preferred

  • Certification in cloud technologies or software engineering.
  • Experience with: Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Expert Systems, Product Management, J2EE.
  • Practical experience building and deploying Generative AI solutions.
  • Knowledge of: LangChain, OpenAI or Azure OpenAI APIs, Hugging Face, Embeddings and Vector Databases, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Prompt Engineering.
  • Experience integrating AI-powered capabilities such as: Chatbots, Document Summarization, Code Assistance, Data Extraction Solutions.
  • Understanding of responsible AI practices, governance, security, privacy, and model validation.
  • Experience using GenAI tools for: Legacy code analysis, Automated code refactoring, Test generation, Cloud migration acceleration, Application modernization initiatives.

Pay

$58-62 per hour
