About the role
biBERK, a Berkshire Hathaway company, is seeking enthusiastic premium auditors (entry level or experienced) to join and grow with our team. The premium auditor will conduct Worker’s Compensation insurance audits and may also handle audits for other lines of insurance.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze payroll, tax, and accounting records to determine the appropriate premium base for various insurance lines, including Worker’s Compensation, General Liability, and Professional Liability (a.k.a. Errors and Omissions).
- Obtain descriptions of business operations, employee job duties, and other relevant information over the phone and through email.
- Determine if proper insurance classification codes have been assigned to customer policies according to the state manuals and suggest class code changes when appropriate.
- Adjust premiums based on state manual rules, such as officer wage adjustments, premium overtime credits, tip credits, etc.
- Complete audit worksheets using an Excel template and process the audit findings in our database.
- Provide superior customer service to the policyholders throughout the audit process.
- Resolve customer disputes regarding audit results.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field (finance, business, accounting)
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and has an aptitude to learn other software applications
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Detail oriented with a high accuracy rate
- Strong critical thinking and organizational skills
- Ability to problem solve and use good judgment
- Strong reading comprehension skills to interpret and apply manual rules
- Self-motivated with excellent time management skills
- Desire to continuously learn
- Previous related work experience preferred, but not required (Worker’s Compensation, General Liability, and/or Professional Insurance)

Pay
The entry level rate for this position starts at $20.52 per hour. Higher rates may be available for candidates with commercial property and casualty underwriting experience. Final compensation will be based on candidate qualifications, geographic location, and other considerations permitted by law.
Schedule
This is a hybrid role that requires two days per week worked in our San Antonio, TX office.
