About the role
Rutter Mills LLP, a leading personal injury law firm in Hampton Roads, is seeking an experienced and client-focused Pre-Litigation Paralegal to join our team. This role supports attorneys and clients throughout the personal injury claim process before a case enters litigation.
Location
On-site in Norfolk, Hampton, or Virginia Beach, VA. Remote work flexibility may be available for candidates with significant experience.
About the role
As a Pre-Litigation Paralegal, you will manage personal injury pre-litigation files through the demand stage while serving as a steady point of contact for clients. This position requires strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate with clients, medical providers, insurance companies, and attorneys in a professional and compassionate manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage personal injury pre-litigation files through the demand stage
- Maintain regular communication with clients, medical providers, insurance companies, and attorneys
- Order, review, and track medical records, bills, lost wages, and other case documentation
- Prepare demand packages, correspondence, statements, and case summaries
- Maintain organized case files and deadlines in the firm’s case management system
- Aid attorneys with all aspects of pre-litigation case management
Qualifications
- 1-3+ years of Virginia personal injury pre-litigation experience preferred
- Understanding of auto insurance coverages, medical records, insurance claims, and personal injury workflow
- Strong communication, organization, and attention to detail
- Ability to manage a fast-paced caseload
- Experience with legal software or case management systems preferred
