PreK Ed Asst - SPED Low Incident (16-110)

About the Role

To provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials.

Responsibilities

• Provide services to special education students including, but not limited to:
  • Spoon/tube feeding (consult with child's SLP for individual needs)
  • Lifting and positioning
  • Recognizing signs/symptoms of child needing suctioning and when to notify the school nurse
  • Recognizing signs/symptoms of colostomy infection and when to notify the school nurse
  • Recognizing signs/symptoms of tracheostomy concerns and when to notify the school nurse
  • Proper technique for diaper changing and toileting
• Maintain confidentiality of student information and records
• Establish and maintain effective communication and relationships with students, parents/guardians, staff, and supervisors/administrators
• Write simple letters, memos, notes, or instructions
• Perform essential job functions and job task requirements
• Computer data entry and word processing
• Operate audio-visual equipment and office machines

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum of 48 college credits preferred
• Ability to obtain Level III Assistant licensure (appropriate college credits or pass test for licensure)
• Experience working with students preferred
• Knowledge of spelling and proper grammar
• Ability to read and interpret routine information

Pay

Nine months (185 days) per contract year and appropriate placement on the Educational Assistant Salary Schedule. The work calendar is subject to change based on any Board approved revisions.

Conditions of Employment

• Comply with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986
• Complete an Employee's Statement of Health and submit to a functional capacity evaluation at the District's expense to determine ability to perform job-related functions and fitness for duty
• Satisfactory completion of all background, criminal, and reference investigations (contingent upon any offer of employment)
