Preconstruction / Project Management Intern
Position Summary
During this internship you will be exposed to multiple areas in the concrete construction field. You will have the opportunity to assist our Estimators with the preparation of estimates and formal proposals to bid. Assist the Project Managers in the daily administrative/project management functions of select projects. Visit jobsites and experience day to day challenges of the construction industry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Aid estimators with day-to-day activities.
- Maintain oversight of construction through administrative direction of project manager/senior project manager.
- Obtain material supplier and subcontractor quotations as required.
- Prepare accurate quantity surveys for work scope.
- Present proposals to clients.
- Participate in project hand-off meetings.
- Assist in preparing and monitoring all submittals and shop drawings.
- Perform frequent job-cost analysis, cost projections, and provide cost reports.
- Conduct quality control inspections in accordance with project procedures, requirements.
- Process and review changes, requests for information, and other applicable correspondence.
- Establish and maintain good communication with Clients.
- Attend and participate in project meetings. Take project meeting minutes as needed.
- Develop and maintain project files and record documents.
- Assume additional responsibilities as directed by estimators and project manager.
Education
A minimum of two years of successful completion of college courses in a construction related degree.
Skills
- Strong communication skills.
- Understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc., and their impact on project activities.
- Capable of assisting in making decisions and recommendations that can greatly impact corporate relationships with Clients and profitability of projects, which are managed.

Equipment to be Used
- Must be able to operate computer and other office equipment, calculator, document reproducing equipment, and communications equipment.
- Requires a valid driver license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Typical Physical Demands
- Requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, and a normal range of hearing and vision.
- May require lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Works in a typical office setting a majority of the time with brief periods spent outdoors.
- May require occasional travel.

- Deals with a variety of emotions and frustrations in making business decisions.
- Communicates, orally and written, in a professional manner.
- Communicates effectively and possesses excellent interpersonal skills.
- Emotional stability and personal maturity are important attributes in this position.
