Preconstruction Manager - Mission Critical

About the role

The Preconstruction Manager plays a critical leadership role in overseeing and managing Mission Critical projects, with a specific focus on data centers. This position requires a minimum of 8 years of experience in preconstruction processes, preferably as a Senior Estimator, Chief Estimator, or Project Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the estimating process.
  • Sets the project up for overall success.
  • Proves value analysis solutions (systems options), including cost/schedule impacts.
  • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with the owner, designer, and subcontractors.
  • Develops and maintains pre-construction schedule.
  • Ensures a smooth transition from pre-construction to construction.
  • Serves as the liaison between estimators and owners.
  • Develops strong and long-lasting relationships with clients by understanding what is important to them.
  • Marksets the company to the owner and architectural team; engages the Business Development Department in pursuing future opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management (or related field) preferred.
  • Able to provide coaching with team members day to day.
  • Able to focus on preconstruction processes and procedures.
  • Able to understand and influence design and the design schedule.
  • Able to present to large and small groups, in-person and virtually.
  • Great at building and maintaining relationships with clients and team members.
  • Able to communicate at a high level.
  • Good time management skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Understanding of Construction Cost and is aware of current market conditions.
  • Excellent computer skills, especially with Estimating software.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction principles/practices.
  • Understands all aspects of contracts, purchase orders, insurance, bonding and contractual risks.
