About the role

The Pre-construction Manager is responsible for leading pre-construction activities within the Strategic Business Unit (SBU), championing "The Layton Way" and ensuring "Constructing with Integrity." They oversee estimating and planning support personnel, monitor project budgets, facilitate communication, and assist in the evaluation and execution of new services.

Responsibilities

  • Champions "The Layton Way" by delivering predictable outcomes for internal and external teams and customers.
  • Ensures "Constructing with Integrity" through honest, unified, safe, and high-quality work practices.
  • Provides leadership for estimating and planning support personnel.
  • Maintains accurate project budgeting and buy-out processes.
  • Communicates cost history to improve cost modeling and estimating.
  • Monitors planning support processes for efficient resource utilization.
  • Interfaces with marketing to consider all relevant information and brand recognition.
  • Assists in evaluating, planning, and executing new scope of services and profit centers.
  • Maintains productivity and cost control on SBU projects.
  • Attends and facilitates project review meetings to resolve budget issues.
  • Plans and implements training for SBU estimators and business development professionals.
  • Identifies and procures profitable projects through business development activities.
  • Manages sales activities, including lead identification, procurement strategies, proposal development, and response to RFQs, SOQs, and RFPs.
  • Establishes goals, procedures, systems, and tools for sales and marketing tasks.
  • Supervises the project procurement process for SBU projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in healthcare construction.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business materials and government regulations.
  • Effective writing and presentation skills.
  • Problem-solving and organizational abilities.
  • Proficient computer skills, including email, databases, word processing, spreadsheets, and graphics.
  • Experience with CMiC and knowledge of estimating software are preferred.
