Responsibilities
- Supports project teams throughout the preconstruction process including budgeting, estimating, scheduling, value analysis, and design management for all types of delivery methods.
- Aids in project pursuit, strategies, and techniques.
- Prepares bid schedules to determine project costs.
- Works closely with the design team during development to control project costs.
- Provides technical support in negotiating contracts and change orders.
- Consults with clients, vendors, project team, and construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates.
- Reviews construction documents and understands the scope of work to bid.
- Reviews final estimate packages to ensure accuracy and completeness before formal quotation.
- Affords cost opinion support to the marketing/business development team as needed.
- Updates and maintains the estimating system.
Requirements
- A four-year Construction Engineering or Construction Management degree or equivalent experience with 5+ years of construction estimating experience required.
- Mechanical and electrical estimating experience is preferred.
- Effective negotiation, team building, problem-solving, mathematical, and analytical skills are essential.
- Exceptional organizational skills and keen attention to detail, deadlines, and accuracy are necessary.
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills are required.
- Strong conceptual estimating capabilities are important.
- The ability to coordinate activities on 'bid day' is necessary.
- A valid Driver's License must be possessed and maintained.
