Preconstruction Manager
About the role
The Christman Company is seeking a Preconstruction Manager to join their team. This role focuses on the strategic management of regional preconstruction services, project strategies, and team performance.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Vice President of Preconstruction to manage the regional preconstruction department.
- Allocate resources, develop project strategies, and maintain a high-performance team.
- Lead specific project assignments, develop long-term relationships with project stakeholders, and achieve successful project outcomes and client satisfaction.
- Manage preconstruction deliverables to clients, including developing a strategy for each assigned project.
- Support business sales, team sales, and presentations.
- Ensure sound financial deals through risk management.
- Drive cost leadership and ensure accuracy of estimates produced.
- Oversee and prepare estimates for projects at all stages, ensuring the costing database is current and includes labor and material updates.
- Drive deadlines and achieve results, ensuring client satisfaction during preconstruction.
- Attend sales presentations and market work to existing clients.
- Enforce and support project planning and logistics with other teams, overseeing subcontractor pricing and involvement.
- Mentor, lead, motivate, and coach staff, promoting mutual support and interactions.
- Manage successful client relationships.
Requirements
- Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related job field. Ten (10) or more years of experience in construction preconstruction or estimating role, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, ability to delegate tasks, motivate colleagues, and manage stakeholder's priorities in a deadline-oriented environment.
- Recognizes problems or situations that are new or without clear precedent; evaluates alternatives and finds solutions using a systematic multi-step approach.
- Creates a sense of belonging and ownership among team members; assembles teams with the right mix of skills; coaches and motivates team members; delegates responsibility; promotes mutual support and interactions.
- Able to make decisions while analyzing the risks and future impacts of them.
- Excellent written and oral skills; strong computer knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
