Preconstruction Manager
About the role
The Christman Company is seeking a Preconstruction Manager to lead the regional preconstruction department, focusing on project strategies, resource allocation, and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Vice President of Preconstruction to manage the regional preconstruction department.
- Develop and implement project strategies.
- Support business sales, team sales, and presentations.
- Risk management - ensure sound financial deals.
- Drive cost leadership and oversee estimate preparation.
- Ensure accuracy and currency of the costing database.
- Lead the value-added process and prepare guaranteed maximum prices.
- Direct, review, and approve the work of Estimating Engineers, Conceptual Estimators, and Senior Estimators.
- Manage deadlines and achieve results.
- Ensure client satisfaction during preconstruction.
- Attend and market sales presentations to existing clients.
- Enforce and support project planning and logistics with other teams.
- Support subcontractor negotiations and continuously develop staff.
- Manage successful client relationships.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related field.
- At least ten (10) years of experience in construction preconstruction or estimating roles, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to delegate tasks, motivate colleagues, and manage stakeholder priorities.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong computer knowledge in Microsoft Office applications.
Qualifications
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must pass pre-employment screening, including drug and background checks.
