Preconstruction Manager

About the Role

We are seeking a professional with concrete operations expertise, including a track record on competitive industrial pursuits. The ideal candidate will have industrial construction experience, specifically in delivering industrial concrete work such as tilt-up, distribution, manufacturing, data center, or similar large-footprint projects.

Experience with mission-critical and data center projects is essential, along with a working understanding of the tolerances, quality expectations, and schedule pressures associated with them.

Familiarity with the Arizona industrial market, including local developers, general contractors, jurisdictions, and the regional subcontractor and supplier base, is required.

Candidates should have general contracting and/or developer experience, understanding how developers and GCs plan, buy, and execute self-perform concrete, and the ability to see a project through their lens.

Responsibilities

• Lead and drive pursuits, coordinating estimating, scheduling, CAD, operations, and business development to produce cohesive submissions.
• Guide strategy with a working understanding of concrete pricing and the numbers behind a bid (estimates are produced by the estimating team).
• Read and interpret structural and architectural drawings and specifications.
• Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication, organization, and client-facing presentation skills.
• Maintain proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort reviewing estimates, schedules, and drawings produced by the pursuit team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• Prior experience delivering industrial concrete work (tilt-up, distribution, manufacturing, data center, or similar large-footprint projects).
• Mission-critical and data center experience, with an understanding of associated tolerances, quality expectations, and schedule pressures.
• Working knowledge of the Arizona industrial market.
• General contracting and/or developer experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Operations background, such as experience as a project manager in concrete operations (preconstruction experience also applies).
• Direct tilt-up experience, including familiarity with panel placement and crane sequencing.
• Experience across cast-in-place structural concrete, slab-on-grade, site concrete, and PCCP scopes.
• Experience on large-scale (250,000 to 1,000,000+ SF) industrial facilities.
• Established relationships with Arizona and regional developers, general contractors, and design partners.
