Pre-School Aide

Duties & Responsibilities

• Interact with children
• Prepare snacks
• Teach children about numbers, colors, and shapes
• Help children get dressed and change diapers when needed
• Evaluate students' social development and physical well-being
• Take on the role of lead teacher when needed

Supervision

• Ensure the safety of all children under their care
• Supervise children in the classroom, on the playground, or in public on school outings
• Stop any unsafe activity, particularly important with preschool-age children
• Help children if they are injured
• Take appropriate actions to protect students in the event of an emergency

Personal Care

• Help children with personal care needs
• Change diapers or assist in potty training, depending on the child's age
• Allow children to do as much as possible independently and teach them skills

Non-Instructional Duties

• Perform clerical duties in the classroom, such as filling out incident reports, working on bulletin boards or displays, duplicating, laminating, or preparing instructional materials
• Handle basic cleaning duties, such as disinfecting toys and equipment or cleaning up areas after mealtimes or snacks

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma and some college credit or equivalent experience
• Experience: Previous teaching experience or experience working with children
• Personal Qualities: Friendly and inviting, adaptable, and enjoy learning
• Age: Must be 21 years of age or older
