Pre-Operative Clinic APP

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive pre-operative history and physical examinations
• Assess and stratify surgical risk, including cardiac and pulmonary risk evaluation
• Order, review, and interpret diagnostic tests (labs, EKGs, imaging, etc.)
• Optimize chronic medical conditions prior to surgery
• Cook up patient care with primary care providers, specialists, and surgical teams
• Develop and implement evidence-based pre-operative care plans
• Educate patients on surgical preparation, medication management, and post-operative expectations
• Ensure all required documentation, consents, and clearances are completed before surgery
• Collaborate with anesthesia providers regarding surgical readiness
• Document all patient encounters accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
• Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
• Certification & Licensure: Current Arizona NP or PA license (or ability to obtain), board certification (FNP, AGACNP, or PA-C)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Experience: 1–2 years of experience in internal medicine, hospital medicine, urgent care, or perioperative care; experience with pre-operative evaluations and risk stratification preferred
