Responsibilities

• Implement the Pre-Op Nursing Assessment/Post Anesthesia Care record and nursing care plan under the supervision of the Charge Nurse and Nurse Manager of Pre-Op/PACU.
• Implement all physician orders, ensuring continuity and quality of nursing care for all patients.
• Continually evaluate the patient’s condition, providing patient safety, comfort, and privacy at all times.
• Assist physicians in procedure rooms with various tasks, conscious sedation, and utilize sterile technique as appropriate.
• Care for patients ranging from one-year-old to geriatric.
• Apply principles of aseptic technique and teach patients and families as needed.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (new graduates welcomed).
• Current Tennessee Nursing License.
• Current CPR and ACLS certification.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to adapt to change quickly and a strong knowledge base relative to surgery procedures and management of the surgical patient.
• Understanding of Continuous Quality Improvement ideology.
