EngineeringFull-time

AES Indiana is developing and building several generation projects to meet increasing demand driven by data center growth. The immediate focus is the technical development of at least one CCGT power plant (~650 MW), with a second CCGT as a strong possibility. Additional generation projects will bridge demand growth until the first CCGT comes online in 2033/2034.

About the role

The Pre-NTP Electrical Engineer will manage the development of the electrical design for these projects, working within the Generation Development Team to create Technical Specifications and EPC Contracts. This role involves leveraging the expertise of Owner’s Engineers and consultants from initial Feasibility Studies and technology selection through to the development and signature of EPC Contracts. The position may evolve into an electrical engineering management or Project Engineering Manager role for project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Safety Leadership in all aspects of the Project.
  • Develop the electrical design for the projects, including:
    • Review and selection of major electrical equipment (transformers, switchgear, etc.).
    • Review of High Voltage, Medium Voltage, and Low Voltage Systems.
  • Manage integration with T&D (Interconnection) departments to ensure alignment with the overall project electrical design.
  • Develop, review, and collaborate with Owner’s Engineers and other Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) on electrical design details in the Technical Specifications.
  • Review the electrical design for operational consistency and standards within AES Indiana.

Requirements

  • Electrical engineering degree (BS or equivalent in engineering or other relevant technical area required).
  • Proven experience in technical design (operational experience preferred), including design of large CCGT and other generation projects.
  • Ideal candidate has construction and commissioning experience for conventional generation (fossil fuel) projects.
  • Experience reading and understanding project schedules and project schedule principles.
  • Minimum of 5–10 years’ electrical design and/or construction experience.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in applicable electrical codes and standards for large power generation projects.
