Pre-Make Ready
Summary Description
The Pre-Make Ready I supports press operations by preparing cylinders, printing components, pumps, and other equipment required for efficient press changeovers. Reporting to the Process Leader, this position is responsible for completing pre-press setup activities safely, accurately, and according to production specifications. This role works closely with the Press team to ensure equipment and materials are properly prepared for upcoming jobs, helping minimize changeover time and maintain production quality and efficiency.
What You'll Be Doing
- Work safely at all times while following plant and division safety policies and procedures.
- Follow established safety procedures and use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Maintain company health, housekeeping, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards.
- Assemble press parts and pumps accurately for upcoming production jobs.
- Set up cohesive/reverse units according to production requirements.
- Assemble and disassemble printing trolley components.
- Repack bearings using established procedures.
- Operate Renzmann and PRI equipment.
- Properly handle hazardous waste and complete all associated documentation requirements.
- Inspect printing cylinders for damage, defects, and other potential issues.
- Set up cylinders with the correct rewind configuration.
- Ensure completed setups meet established quality requirements.
- Read and interpret order specifications and condition sheets related to press setup.
- Assist with press changeovers to support efficient production transitions.
- Operate a forklift as required.
- Maintain accurate, legible, and timely records and documentation.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Support total quality and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work independently while collaborating effectively with other team members.
- Work overtime as required to support production needs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED (required).
- Ability to follow directions and complete assignments accurately in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to accurately use a ruler and perform required measurements.
- Ability to maintain clear, accurate, and timely logs and records.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to completing quality setups.
- Comfortable working with mechanical components, tools, and production equipment.
- Ability to read and follow job specifications, condition sheets, and work instructions.
- Willingness to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrates initiative and willingness to learn and advance through departmental progression.
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- Available to work rotating 8-hour shifts and overtime as required.
Pay & Schedule
- Pay Rate: $18.76 – $25.96/hour
- Bonus: $1,000 sign-on bonus after 90 days
- Shift: 8-hour rotating schedule
