Pre-Kindergarten Teacher (UPK)

About the role

Healthy Kids Programs is seeking Pre‑Kindergarten Teachers for three (3) classrooms at Beekman Elementary School, Poughquag, NY. This role provides four‑year‑olds with a high‑quality early learning experience that builds a strong foundation for Kindergarten. The ideal candidate is creative, culturally responsive, and passionate about early childhood development, with experience in early literacy, multi‑disciplinary approaches, and strategies for diverse learners. The position emphasizes child‑centered learning, literacy and numeracy development, social‑emotional growth, and collaboration with colleagues and families.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate Pre‑K program aligned with UPK School District requirements
• Design and teach culturally responsive lessons
• Assess, track, and provide timely feedback on student progress and development
• Use positive, age‑appropriate guidance strategies
• Build strong relationships with staff and families through professional communication and engagement
• Collaborate with teacher assistants and other team members
• Design classroom environments following ECERS (Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale)
• Develop literacy and math‑focused activities using the Creative Curriculum
• Participate in professional development and program evaluation

Requirements

Minimum qualifications

• Current NYS teaching certificate valid for service in the early childhood grades
• Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred)
• Experience teaching preschool‑age children
