Pre-K Teacher

Essential Functions

• Adapts classroom work to provide students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans within established lesson plans.
• Administers developmental testing programs and/or subject specific assessments to assess student competency levels and develop individual learning plans.
• Advises parents and/or legal guardians on student progress to communicate expectations, student achievements, and methods for improvement in the home environment.
• Affirms student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals by providing feedback to students, parents, and administration.
• Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents or guardians, and community resources to improve overall student outcomes and achieve classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan.
• Demonstrates methods required to perform classroom and/or subject specific assignments to provide an effective program that addresses individual student requirements.
• Directs others working with and/or helping the teacher in the learning environment to provide an effective classroom program and address the needs of individual students.
• Instructs students to improve their academic success through a defined course of study.
• Manages student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
• Maintains students in a variety of educational environments (classroom, field trips, etc.) to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
• Participates in meetings (Professional Learning Communities, etc.) to convey and/or gather information required to perform functions.
• Prepares a variety of written materials (grades, attendance, anecdotal records, meeting minutes, etc.) to document student progress and meet mandated requirements.
• Reports suspected child or substance abuse to assigned site administrator to maintain student personal safety, adhere to regulatory requirements, and establish guidelines.
• Responds to inquiries from various sources (other teachers, parents, administrators, industry-specific organizations, etc.) to resolve issues, provide information, and/or direct.
• Responds to emergency situations (student behavior problems, health emergencies, security threats, etc.) to resolve immediate safety concerns and/or direct to appropriate personnel for resolution.
