Pre-k Lead Teacher– Before & After School
About the role
Healthy Kids Programs is seeking a Lead Teacher for their Before and After School Pre-k Program for the 2025-2026 school year. The position is part-time, non-exempt, and located at Uriah Hill Elementary School in Peekskill, NY. The primary responsibility is to provide quality childcare and educational support to children aged 3-5.
Responsibilities
- Ensure staff and program operations consistently meet state regulations, Healthy Kids policies, and host school requirements.
- Plan and lead engaging, hands-on activities aligned with the Healthy Kids Curriculum, including fitness, STEAM, academics, arts, and homework support.
- Oversee daily operational tasks such as accurate attendance and registration tracking, scheduling, and maintaining appropriate staffing levels.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with parents and caregivers using the Playground App.
- Communicate regularly with your direct report to share updates, address concerns, and support a positive team environment.
Requirements
- Education and Experience:
- Candidates must meet one of the following:
- An associate's degree in Early Childhood, Child Development, or a related field.
- A Child Development Associate Credential or another Office-recognized credential specific to the preschool developmental period (with 1 year of experience).
- 9 credits in Early Childhood, Child Development, or a related field with a plan of study leading to an Associates or other Office recognized credential (with 2 years of experience).
- Qualifications:
- Must be medically cleared to perform all job duties and free of communicable diseases, including tuberculosis (TB).
- Demonstrates a positive, friendly demeanor with strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with children, parents, and team members.
- Dependable, punctual, and professional in conduct and appearance.
- Able to bend, stretch, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds, and meet the physical demands of working with children.
