As a Pre-K Lead Teacher, you will create and implement a flexible program and classroom environment that fosters student learning and personal growth. You will develop lesson plans aligned with established guidelines, build rapport with students, staff, and parents, and motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge for a strong educational foundation.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement a program of instruction adhering to the company’s philosophy, goals, and objectives as outlined in adopted courses of study.
• Create purposeful and effective lesson plans that maximize time on task and provide real-world, application-based learning opportunities.
• Present subject matter to students to maximize learning opportunities.
• Review student records to understand each student’s abilities and needs; maintain accurate and complete student records.
• Maximize the educational achievement of each student through differentiated instruction and frequent diagnostic assessments.
• Assess student strengths and weaknesses regularly, provide appropriate activities, and generate progress reports as required.
• Refer students with suspected learning problems to appropriate support personnel.
• Assign lessons, correct student work, and review oral presentations.
• Coordinate class field trips as required.
• Prepare students for state-required achievement assessments.
• Stay current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory; share insights for continual curriculum improvement.
• Assist in the ongoing curriculum revision process, including the revision of written courses of study.
• Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
• Become familiar with supplemental services beneficial to students as extensions of regular classroom activities.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to student maturity and interests.
• Maintain positive rapport with students, demonstrating patience and nurturing to support child growth.
• Ensure the classroom is clean, safe, and displays student-generated work as appropriate.
• Implement relevant policies governing student conduct and develop reasonable rules for classroom/playground behavior.
• Maintain order in the classroom fairly and consistently.
• Develop lesson plans consistent with established guidelines and goals.
• Plan individual and group learning activities to meet instructional objectives and student needs.
• Prepare for assigned classes and show evidence of preparation upon request.
• Participate in curriculum planning with other staff members during designated meetings.
• Incorporate diagnostic information from students’ Individual Education Plans (IEPs) into planning.
• Take necessary precautions to protect supplies, equipment, materials, and facilities for effective instruction.
• Establish cooperative relations and communicate clearly, consistently, and positively with parents/guardians.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student records.
• Participate in parent communication activities and extracurricular activities to foster a positive school culture.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child Development, Education, or a CDA or Staff Credential.
• Completion of the following training or equivalent: Emergent Literacy for VPK Instructors and Implementing the State Standards in Preschool Classrooms: 3 Years Old to Kindergarten.
• First Aid and CPR certification.
• Three years of relevant experience.

Work Environment

While performing the responsibilities of this position, the work environment includes usual school conditions. The environment may be noisy during high student traffic.
