About the role
Assist in conducting intensified learning experiences for students in assigned areas and relieve teachers of various non-instructional duties. Perform supportive tasks, primarily of a non-instructional nature, for a certified teacher.
Responsibilities
- Aid in managing student arrival and departure times.
- Supportive tasks, primarily non-instructional, such as maintaining discipline, supervising students, and keeping administrative records.
- Tutor students individually or in small groups to reinforce and follow-up learning activities.
- Supervise students throughout the day, including in hallways, lunchrooms, auditoriums, gyms, and playgrounds.
- Help with copying, organizing, and filing materials for students.
- Participate in staff development training programs and faculty meetings.
- Decorate the classroom for special events and assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
- Inform teachers of special needs or problems of individual students.
- Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or USA equivalency.
- Associate Degree or 48 college credit hours or pass an academic assessment.
- Valid Texas educational aide certificate.
- Six months of knowledge and skills acquired through work experience or successful completion of a specific training program for teacher assistants is preferred.
- Demonstrated initiative and willingness to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Demonstrated general knowledge of child growth and development and behavior characteristics.
- Willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and skills acquired through work experience or successful completion of a specific training program for teacher assistants is preferred.
- Demonstrated flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
Skills
- Ability to maintain discipline in the absence of the teacher.
- Ability to help achieve the objectives of the program or activities.
- Ability to tutor students individually or in small groups.
- Ability to perform supportive tasks, primarily of a non-instructional nature.
- Ability to assist with administrative tasks such as copying, organizing, and filing.
- Ability to participate in staff development training programs.

Minimum Salary: $28,342.00
