About the role

Assist in conducting intensified learning experiences for students in assigned area and relieve certified teachers of various non-instructional tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Absorb and assist teacher and students in achieving program or activity objectives.
  • Maintain discipline in the absence of the teacher.
  • Tutor students individually or in small groups to reinforce and follow-up learning activities.
  • Help students with their daily work and find appropriate homework activities.
  • Review class activities and daily homework.
  • Supervise class breakfast and lunch activities.
  • Communicate with parents to provide updates on student progress, homework, and social behavior.
  • Distribute informative letters to parents regarding their child's progress.
  • Aid in filing and organizing materials for record retention and distribution.
  • Aid in maintaining student records, attendance, and files.
  • Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Accredited Senior High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. equivalency), plus one of the following: Associate degree, 48 college credit hours, pass an academic assessment.
  • Paraprofessional certificate required from State Board of Certification.
  • One year of experience working with children.
  • Demonstrated general knowledge of child growth/development and behavior characteristics.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse ethnic groups.
  • Demonstrated organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative and a willingness to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills both in oral and written form.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Demonstrated flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
  • Demonstrated willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession.

Pay

Minimum Salary: $28,342.00
Median Salary: $35,424.00
