Pre-Doctoral Research Fellow, Nephrology

Responsibilities

• Perform bench work, animal surgeries, and animal care
• Collect and analyze data, generate figures, and prepare manuscripts
• Support the principal investigator and research team in collaborating on projects
• Aid in laboratory management and daily operations, including maintaining laboratory organization, monitoring inventory, ordering supplies, and ensuring compliance with laboratory safety regulations

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in a PhD program or have equivalent training in a field related to the research project
• Prior experience in wet-lab research preferred
• Experience working with animal models (e.g., mice) or willingness to learn animal handling and surgical techniques preferred

Qualifications

• Experience with molecular biology, biochemistry, or physiology techniques (such as PCR, Western blot, histology, cell culture, or microscopy) is a plus
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Excellent English communication skills (oral and written)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience with data analysis or statistical software is a plus
• Ability to work independently and as part of a research team
• Ability to follow laboratory safety procedures and institutional animal care regulations
• Ability to maintain accurate and confidential research records

About the Department

The Department of Medicine, Section of Nephrology is a basic research group focused on the role of the juxtaglomerular apparatus in regulating renal hemodynamics and systemic blood pressure. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Fellow to join our research team.

Benefits

Compensation range: $54,000 - $58,500
