Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates based on construction plans, specifications, and project requirements.
- Review architectural drawings, plans, and specifications to develop accurate scopes and budgets.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and analyze material and labor requirements.
- Solicit, gather, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
- Develop preliminary project budgets and maintain accurate cost records.
- Coordinate pre-construction activities with project managers, designers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Collaborate with clients and design professionals to refine project scopes and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Assist with project scheduling, budgeting, and cost-control efforts.
- Identify potential cost, scope, and scheduling issues before construction begins.
- Maintain organized estimating documentation, spreadsheets, and project records.
- Support compliance with construction safety standards and company procedures.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating, budgeting, and pre-construction processes.
Qualifications
- Experience in residential construction, custom homebuilding, estimating, or pre-construction coordination.
- Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, materials, and safety practices.
- Experience with budgeting, cost estimating, cost tracking, and project controls.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with subcontractors, suppliers, project managers, and internal teams.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.
- Experience performing quantity takeoffs and reviewing construction plans.
- Proficiency with construction estimating software, spreadsheets, and project management tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Construction management, engineering, or related education preferred; equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
- A proactive, ambitious mindset with a strong desire to learn and advance within the construction industry.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project and field teams.
