Pre-Construction Coordinator Or Estimator

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates based on construction plans, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Review architectural drawings, plans, and specifications to develop accurate scopes and budgets.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and analyze material and labor requirements.
  • Solicit, gather, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
  • Develop preliminary project budgets and maintain accurate cost records.
  • Coordinate pre-construction activities with project managers, designers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Collaborate with clients and design professionals to refine project scopes and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Assist with project scheduling, budgeting, and cost-control efforts.
  • Identify potential cost, scope, and scheduling issues before construction begins.
  • Maintain organized estimating documentation, spreadsheets, and project records.
  • Support compliance with construction safety standards and company procedures.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating, budgeting, and pre-construction processes.

Qualifications

  • Experience in residential construction, custom homebuilding, estimating, or pre-construction coordination.
  • Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, materials, and safety practices.
  • Experience with budgeting, cost estimating, cost tracking, and project controls.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with subcontractors, suppliers, project managers, and internal teams.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.
  • Experience performing quantity takeoffs and reviewing construction plans.
  • Proficiency with construction estimating software, spreadsheets, and project management tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Construction management, engineering, or related education preferred; equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
  • A proactive, ambitious mindset with a strong desire to learn and advance within the construction industry.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project and field teams.
