Pre-College Programs Teaching Assistant
About the role
The Stevens Institute of Technology invites applications for Teaching Assistant positions in its Pre-College Programs. These programs are designed to engage high school students in college-level learning through hands-on experiences in fields such as engineering, computer science, business, cybersecurity, and more.
Responsibilities
- Aid pre-college faculty in instructional activities and classroom management
- Support student learning during lectures and hands-on projects
- Maintain engagement with students and foster a positive classroom environment
- Collaborate with fellow TAs to prepare materials, coordinate group work, and monitor student progress
- Provide academic support and general guidance to high school participants
- May require lab support/work
Requirements
- Currently pursuing or holding a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field
- Strong academic background in STEM, business, or a related discipline preferred
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with high school students in a collaborative learning environment
- Prior teaching, tutoring, mentoring, camp counseling, or leadership experience preferred
Compensation
The compensation range for this position is $30-$75/hour. The final salary will be determined based on departmental budget, qualifications, and relevant credentials.
